P-intense.

It sounds like a forest, and a carnival army marched through while it was winter. Reminds me of a carnival NSMB (new super mario bros) and Animal Crossing.

Kweaks responds:

You've always had a crazy good imagination, BudGP.

I like it...

It would be perfect for a calm section in like a Half-Life 2 game. It's chilled out but still has an electronic backdrop with DnB drums...

I imagine an old lightbulb still burning and gradually fading to a soft orange glow before flickering out.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks man. Heh, that'd be awesome to see a track in a bad ass game like half-life. I generally work with those two contrasts working together - Calm / Chaos. : D

I like it, but...

You should have used some difference in instrument volume and depth, they all seem to be fighting for attention. I really love that bass riff after the piano though.

Better...

The instruments don't seem very deep in sound and kind of similar, and the drums sound kind of soft and MIDI like. Try using some effects in the mixer for the different tracks and the patch "FPC" would be a good choice for drums. The melody on the other hand, is really interesting.

FrostGuy responds:

THis was the first one I made. After you left your comments of WTL Bass Line I sort of remade this song with more effects . I'll put it up so you can listen to the differences to see if they were for the better.

The melody is fine...

You just need some major fix-ups though. First of all, use effects and filters, they give your song more depth and feeling, you want to have sound from low to high frequencies, especially for this type of song. Next, use more powerful drums and synths, they feel lacking. If you are using fruity loops, look into the sytrus patches, they are pretty good.

FrostGuy responds:

Alright man thanks. I just have only toyed with FL and don't know too too much about it, but I'd really like to know more.

Interesting...

It sounds pretty good, but I can't thoroghly listen to it because I don't have my earphones. The song reminds me of a sort of chilled out Metroid Prime song with some soft short-synth melodies that remind me more of a zelda game. It would work great as a flash game menu. Since I reviewed yours, check some more of my stuff out.

Nice!

I like this song, It feels very russiany, I found a good use for it, as the opening theme for one of my characters in my movie, check it out if you have the time. Oh, and I noticed you use Edirol orchestra like me. I was messing with the oboe instrument, and I thought it sounded familiar, I managed to play the opening part of your song. The only thing you need to improve is the length, It needs to be longer.

Very HL2-ish...

I like this song, you got a pretty good Half Life 2 feeling to it in the beginning. I could find a use for it in one of my future flash movies... It has that dark feeling that I enjoy in industrial songs

snayk responds:

Feel free to use my song in your Flash. Thanks for the review! I'm glad you liked it.

Not the best, but

You have a good melody idea, but it's not very well put together. Try getting a more professional music program, instead of a MIDI synthesiser. (the Fruity Loops Studio 7 demo is free and has all of the functions except you can't save the song to work on later (you can export as MP3, WAV, or MIDI). there is no trial time limit either) Try keeping things on beat too, the notes were all over the place.

brownspider responds:

Thanks for the comment! I think this is my second song ever. I made it in SoundForge 9. Fruity Loops or ACID (or any sequencer really) would have been much wiser.

Good song, but...

What's with the all left panning? It makes the song sound weird.

JowyAtreides responds:

Hey thanks for the feedback. Yeah the left panning is just down to me probably not tweaking it thoroughly. Kinda rushed this a bit, just to bring my ideas together before I forget 'em haha, but seeing some positive feedback I probably will take the time to properly record this soon.

Thanks,
